Survey Says: Honda Ranks High on "2012 U.S. Initial Quality Study"

Ever wonder what it's like to own a new Honda model within the first 90 days of buying the auto? Stephens Honda is happy to say that the experience is quite positive. And we're not just saying that to boast. Revered auto experts at J.D. Power and Associates found the brand to rank extremely high on its "2012 U.S. Initial Quality Study."
Not only did Honda slip into the 5th spot overall on this venerable list, but it was found to be the highest-ranking non-premium automotive brand for initial vehicle quality. In other words, consumers looking for an outstanding auto that isn't weighed down by a heavy luxury price tag need look no further than the Big H.
Every year, J.D. Power and Associates conducts this particular study to gauge consumer feelings in the area of new car experience. Participants must have owned their vehicle for exactly 90 days and provide feedback on the number of design-related problems and defects/malfunctions that have occurred within that frame of time. Specifically, the auto reviewing company found the Honda Odyssey, Honda Pilot, and Honda Ridgeline to rank low for issues and, therefore, high for quality.
Mark Morrison, spokesman for Honda Manufacturing of Alabama, says, "We believe we are going in the right direction when it comes to quality and we are pleased with the industry rankings of the Odyssey, Pilot and Ridgeline...But, we also know that as we improve, so does our competition, so that is why we are committed to improve our quality every day."1
