The 2012 Honda lineup features five hybrid and alternative-fuel-powered vehicles.
- Honda CR-Z Sport Hybrid
- Honda Insight Hybrid
- Honda Civic Hybrid Sedan
- Honda Natural Gas-Powered Civic
- Honda FCX Clarity.
In 2012, we will also see a plug-in hybrid for the first-time ever. And, possibly even more exciting, an all-new EV is right around the corner, too!
Honda showed off both highly-anticipated models in concept form at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show. Like most all electric vehicles available on the market, the Honda EV Concept produces zero emissions and runs solely on electric power. Unlike a lot of EVs on the market today, it will be fitted with a lithium-ion battery and coaxial motor for a one hundred mile driving range and top speed of 90 mph. To distinguish it even further from other EV's, Honda has designed it with a three-mode electric drive system also found in the Honda CR-Z hybrid.
Based on the same 5-passenger layout as the popular Honda Fit, press and enthusiasts have been referring to the new Honda EV concept as the 'Honda Fit EV concept' or the 'Honda Fit Electric'. However, the truth is Honda has not yet decided what the all-new EV will be named, either in concept form or as a production model.
Honda has reported that their all-new two-motor, plug-in hybrid technology is set to debut in 2012. The Honda EV is likely to follow in certain states shortly after. Stay tuned to lean more. Stephens Honda, located at 1441 S. Liberty, Bloomington IN, 47403, promises you'll be one of the first to know as soon as a hard time frame has been set.... It shouldn't be much longer.
