Honda Injects $400 Million in Ohio Expansions

Amidst layoffs and a faltering economy, Honda of America is determined to create new financial activity. The company recently announced that over the past year it has endowed $400 million in operations through its Ohio based plants and facilities. Honda feels that this type of activity will secure the automaker's future when the economy gains hold once again.

The majority of the funding has been spread amongst Honda Ohio plants in Troy, East Liberty, Marysville, and Anna for the purpose of expansion. And knowing the automaker's history, Stephens Honda does not expect it to hold back in any way, shape or form. Since Honda began production in Ohio back in the late '70's, not a single employee within the state has been laid off. Over the past year, Honda investments have surpassed those of General Motors and other prominent automakers.

"Even after the devastating earthquake and tsunami in Japan in March?the automaker put associates to work at routine plant maintenance, such as painting, or allowing workers to volunteer in their communities,"1 report Honda officials.

It's dedication to the company and its workers that continues to sustain the Honda brand despite economic turmoil. Increasing production within U.S. walls and localizing the market also creates a rather positive "ripple effect." Expansion requires greater usage of new materials that will be purchased within the country. In addition to injecting a healthy boost of internal cash flow, this process creates 100 new jobs, a by-product treasured akin to gold.
